Water, Water, Water. It is necessary. We need to drink it. It took me awhile to actually enjoy it. I tried it with ice, without ice, with added flavors, lemon, no lemon… oh my list is endless. Here are a few reason why it is essential and helpful to drink water:
1: Weight loss
2. Head aches
3. Healthy skin
4. Cleansing your system
5. Exercising better and more efficiently
“They” say we need 8, 8oz of water, but this is generic. It depends on the person. Plus, we get water when we eat and drink other beverages, such as juice. I just feel that 8 is just too much. It is good to drink water with every meal. It is good to drink water when you feel parched. It is good to drink water before, during, and after exercise. It is necessary to NOT be dehydrated. Dehydration causes energy loss, head aches (hangovers), and slows down exercise.
Ways to remind yourself to drink water as the day goes on, could be to fill up water bottles, buy those cute new plastic cups with the straws attached, write a reminder, or when you are out to eat, only order water. Just some ideas.
SO DRINK UP EVERYONE!
Did you know that “Humans are made up of between 50% and 70% water and amazingly the brain contains over 80% water. Therefore if we do not take in water on a regular basis then we will lose body fluid and become dehydrated??” I knew we were a lot of water, but the brain information surprised me.
I also read that Water, after oxygen, is the second most important substance for human health. Water is a universal solvent and transport medium, and because of that it is the basis of all biological processes in the human body. Water is mainly important for the digestive system, because it contributes to the constant supply and export of products and substances. The transport of nutrients can only take place through a solvent, and as such water acts as the main transport medium of nutrients. Water also attends heat regulation in our bodies. For humans it is of vital importance that the body temperature stays at a standard level. That is why we have to drink water, when we are infected with a fever. Water takes up heat and transports it out of the body while we are transpiring. We can survive without food for about 30 to 40 days, but we can only survive a few days without water. This is a factor that proves how important water is for us.
